Noteworthy Information: Mississippi currently has a CBD program allowing patients diagnosed with a debilitating epileptic condition to receive CBD oil obtained only from two state universities. The oil must contain at least 15% CBD and no more than 0.5% THC. Notably, the only federal cannabis facility is at the University of Mississippi.
While Mississippi’s program is very restrictive, Ballot Initiative 65 will be on the November 2020 ballot. This measure classifies 22 severe medical conditions that would enable qualified patients to obtain medical marijuana access after receiving a physicians recommendation. State lawmakers are able approve, reject, or amend the measure before November.
