Voters passed State Question 788 in June 2018, legalizing medical marijuana in Oklahoma. Those with a state issued medical marijuana license can legally possess up to three (3) ounces of marijuana on their person; possess six (6) mature marijuana plants; possess one (1) ounce of concentrated marijuana; possess seventy-two (72) ounces of edible marijuana; and possess up to eight (8) ounces of marijuana in their residence. Patients with a medical marijuana card from a different state can now apply for a temporary medical marijuana license in Oklahoma, which is valid for only 30 days. Currently there are over 900 dispensary licenses approved by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority, and over 54,000 patients can legally buy medical cannabis. Online application submissions became available on August 25, 2018. In February, the House passed Bill 2612, the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, which would provide an extensive medical marijuana regulatory framework. The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) says they are receiving around 5,000 applications a week now.
